Dave,
Yea, we all know that but what you left out is there is a better time to go through tech and its usually just before lunch or just before the end of the tech day.
Of course that rule changes every year unless its Crazy Dan Courtney...no matter what Tech he goes through they always find new sheeeit wrong with his car! In 2007 JB and I are going to dress him up so he looks like YOU! ;-]>

Well, I'm not Robert Yates racing or Mario Andretti, but I've been through
some tech inspections . . . and always sweat them.
(What did I miss, will I catch on fire, are my seat belt bolts brittle or
butter?)
Summary of experiences:
One year fine, next year not - same inspector.
Everything from a Drew tech to a "I saw your car at the lodge w/the fire
extinguisher on the floor - its fine" (from a "tech inspector" that could
barely stand up).
"your battery is loose - have fun today"
and so forth.
The inspectors that ask questions and make you think/sweat are the good
ones. No car has equipment that is tooo good. The job is to make sure the
driver tells a good story at the bar after the "ouchies" . . .
maybe this is a good time for the "$10/helmet $10 head" thought.
Get good safety gear.
Go to a tech inspection for a few hours and watch. (The best education I got
was watching tech at Bonneville and how the inspectors got the guy to think
"oh, F*ck" at the end.)
Don't drive like you think you are Senna (we know where he ended up) if you
have less experience.
The idea is to have fun, not be a video short on youtube.
David, just got my collar on the internet (preachpreachpreach)

inconsistent...bottom line irregardless of who is building and/or installing
your bar or cage be sure you pick a fabricator who has built SCCA or other
sanctioning body bars or cages in the past.
