Okay...My point is the approved roll bar or cage is as good as the guy who fabricates, welds and installs it in your Pantera or any car per spec........

the problem with approved is the inspection or inspectors are usually inconsistent...bottom line irregardless of who is building and/or installing your bar or cage be sure you pick a fabricator who has built SCCA or other sanctioning body bars or cages in the past.

OK, how about 'any APPROVED roll bar'...? For self-protection on street cars,
my thought was, any bar would be better than none at all, but an approved bar
by a sanctioning race association will prevent you from having to change bars
for competition. There are rules by sanctioning bodies for wall thickness,
placement above the drivers head, providing inspection holes and so forth. The
SCCA has 4 pages of design critaria & many other outfits copy their specs; 4130
is not recommended . FWIW, I've also seen and heard of a great number of
wrecked Panteras, and in most cases, the driver and if present, the passenger,
walks (OK, maybe 'staggers') away, more-or-less unhurt. A very good cockpit
design as-stock IMHO. FWIW- J DeRyke
