Just to give another opinion...
The POCA Las Vegas Fun Rally has been held since 1982. It is usually held
over the last weekend in April, and sometimes over the first weekend in May,
depending on when the last/first weekend falls, making sure we don't conflict
with Mother's Day.
We have to work around the other groups that have events scheduled at
whatever hotel the Fun Rally is headquartered at.
Occasionally there will be conflicts with other car events, of differing
kinds, The Ford show at Knott's as an example, and with races of all kinds, etc.
To try to schedule any event so as not to conflict with any other event,
would be extremely difficult, and who would decide which event is the more
important?
There is a lot to be said for having a consistency in dates, people can plan
for the event from year to year with some degree of certainty that the event
will be held at that time.
It appears that in 2007 there is a conflict with an open road race. If you
are a die hard racer, then attend the ORR. If you are not, then attend the
Fun Rally. There will be racing, albeit not open road, at the Fun Rally.
For 2007 the event runs from April 25 to April 29. For 2008 the new Fun
Rally Committee can schedule the event at whatever time and location they want.
But, I can be reasonably sure that somewhere there will be a conflict.
Deal with it.
