[DeTomaso] "Popping Noise" on deceleration?

Dan,

The popping is backfiring in the exhaust, caused by a lean condition.
Since you just put the engine in, you probably have an exhaust leak or
three, and/or carburetion issues (too lean).

Subject: [DeTomaso] "Popping Noise" on deceleration?

The Winged Warrior finally has it's new engine in but it's making a
distinctive
series of "popping" noises each time you let off the gas. I don't think
it's the
exhaust because it never did this before (with the previous engine).
Does anyone know the potential causes for this "popping"?

Thank You,
Dan
