John,
You're a frigin GENIUS!!!!! I think you may have just hit a home run. I
thought I was pretty mechanical, but NEVER gave that a thought! The bend
does go toward the box and when shifting to 5th it would naturally rotate in
the direction of the u-joint. I just reviewed a picture of the transaxle and
the u-joint and it looks like there is a mark on the edge of the u-joint
where it would be hitting...I will check when I get home tonight and
hopefully I will be emailing you back with good news!!! I was getting ready
to pull the ZF and drop it off at Butfoys place to have it torn apart!
Looks like I might owe you a nice dinner at one of the upcoming events.
