[DeTomaso] Oil Pan

JT and Mike,

I recently purchased a sender for the Mangusta from Roland Jaeckel of
the DeTomaso Parts Center in Germany,
http://www.jaeckel-partner.de/en/detomaso.html

Roland was great to work with and even did a bench test to confirm the
calibration was correct for my gauge. Here are some of the markings on
the sender:
Veglia
9 D
69-03
12-24V
Made in Italy

The threads checked to be 5/8 -18 which surprised me so I had them
checked by another person. 5/8 - 18 bolt thread they are. This is
close to 3/8" pipe thread but a little loose. Whither or not this
agrees with an Aviaid pan, I don't know.

The rest of the story: The oil temp gauge wasn't working and I finally
got around to checking it out. It seems a previous owner had replaced
the pan with a standard pan scans temp sender port and just pitched the
sender but tied up the wire. I talked to one of our US venders and a
bunch of gauge people without success in locating a suitable sender. I
even tried a parts house sender and a bunch of resistors. No Joy.
Finally I e-mailed Roland and he came through right away. Based on the
comments from this list I contacted Armando Rodridguez and purchased an
AR Racing Oil Pan. Armando said he normally puts 1/2" NPT threads for
the temp sender and rather than have him do something special, I'll be
using a brass pipe bushing tapped to fit the sender. All this is
waiting to be installed so I can't claim success just yet.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Best regards,

Gary Bartley
